The Statement by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Iran on the Occasion of 10th of October International Action Day Against Execution

Death penalty is an organized and conscious act by the states to assassin and eliminate the political and social dissidents and the victims of the capitalist system that is supported by the states. Death penalty has always been used as a tool by the ruling capitalist class in our today’s world as well as by the previous ruling classes along the history in order to subjugate the oppressed classes in the society. Death penalty is an inhuman and criminal act no matter who does it or for what justification.

The 10th of October, the international action day against death penalty is another opportunity for the activists of the death penalty abolition movement to enlighten the world opinion more on the antihuman and criminal nature of death penalty. The 10th of October at the same time poses this question to the human society that why in the 21st century and at the climax of human civilization, cultural progress and human philanthropy, our world is still stained with the abhorred scars of death penalty.

While the number of the victims of the capitalist system is growing by millions day after day, the capitalist states in those countries, where death penalty is not abolished yet, justify death penalty as being the cure for all the insecurities and the decisive reaction to the social calamities. This way they try to divert the public opinion from seeing the real causes of the social problems and insecurities. In Iran under the rule of Islamic regime, that tops the list of the countries that issue death sentences most, hundreds of young people labelled “rogues and rascals” have been executed either secretly or publicly in different Iranian cities in the recent years, though the regime has not been able to execute the political and social activists a easily as in the previous years due to the wide public protests against execution. This regime still continues its crimes and assassinations overtly calling it fighting against criminal acts.

The states and the supporters of death penalty believe that execution can work as a preventive factor against crimes by frightening and terrifying others. They claim that execution as a tool can show to the criminals and violators that the society cannot tolerate their crimes and offences. But the realities prove the opposite. For example in Iran where death penalty and its execution in the public has become one of the pillars of the rule of the Islamic regime, or in the US where death penalty is still allowed in most of its states, there are millions of crimes such as violence, assassination, theft and armed robbery, rape and other crimes happening yearly. Considering the population and comparing to the European countries where death penalty is abolished, the number of crimes committed in the US and Iran is much higher.

Thus it is clear that death penalty and legalized death and violence can not eradicate the social insecurities and problems, but the economic and social roots of these social insecurities and calamities must be found and eradicated so that the human dignity and high value find their real status.

In the capitalist system which is orbiting the interest and private property is worshipped, in a system that is based on human exploitation, a system that is featured with millions of unemployed people, where the children are working as slaves at the workshops, in the mines and on the farms, a system that lives on war and terror, poverty and hunger and homelessness, human soul and dignity have no value. Death penalty is a necessity for this system.

As long as the capitalist class system rules and the real grounds for criminal acts

and execution have not been eliminated from the society for ever, freedom-loving humanity will keep demanding the abolition of death penalty.

The death penalty abolition movement has been able to make many countries in the world to abolish death penalty. Let’s on the 10th of October, the international day of action against death penalty strengthen and widen our struggles against the Islamic Regime in Iran and in the support of the death penalty abolition in Iran and all other countries in the world.

Long Live Freedom, Equality and the Workers State!
